Don Preston was asked to make a personal choice from the works of Zappa and the Grandmothers and, in addition, to compose new titles for the Leipziger Zappa/Mothers Night. The first part of the concert presented Grandmother classics composed by Don Preston and new compositions which were given their world-premiere on the stage of the Gewandhaus and which the Festival and Warner Music commissioned. The second half of the concert presented Zappa classics from the time of the Mothers of Invention and performed with members from the original Mothers.
